Silas Olsson has a back-ground in health services research, including medical engineering, technology transfer and health technology assessment and public health. He has been working for Swedish and international companies in Sweden and Germany, in a government research institute in Stockholm and since 2001 for European Commission, ICT for health unit, in Brussels. He has a long international experience in the field of health informatics / eHealth, both from development, projects and market point of view. Back in the 1990th he was the founding president of Swedish Telemedicine and eHealth society and founding board-member of Nordic Telemedicine Association.European Comission Silas Olsson has published about 150 articles in professional health care and health technology related journals and books.

Senior researcher of studies on policy strategies, market research and validation of applications of ICT in the health sector
Dr. Karl Stroetmann has been principal investigator or senior researcher of studies on policy strategies, market research and validation of applications of ICT in the health sector. Presently, he coordinates two projects for the European Commission and all 25 Member State Health Ministries to support the implementation of the European eHealth Action Plan and to improve interoperability among Member State health systems. The economic impact of eHealth, patient safety, or semantic interoperability (with WHO involvement) are topics of other work. - In Nov. 2002, he received an award for „Telemedicine - Human Applications of IT in Medicine" (Integrata Foundation). Karl's biography is included in the International WHO’S WHO of Professionals and Marquis Who`sWho in the World.

Junior Consultant
Alexander Dobrev is junior consultant at empirica GmbH, Bonn, Germany.
He is specialising in studies on socio-economic effects of eHealth applications
and strategic eHealth policy issues. His recent work has focused on the economic
impact of eHealth (www.ehealth-impact.org). Alexander has an extensive record
of experience in international work and education environments, including international
projects and conferences in Germany, the UK, and Bulgaria. He holds a Bachelor
of Arts Honours Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University

Director, TanJent Consultancy
Tom Jones has over 20 year's experience in healthcare information, finance
and economics. Before setting up his consultancies in the early 1990s, he was
a director of finance and information in the NHS, UK. He has researched and
published extensively on economic and financial aspects of eHealth, including
economic evaluations of over 20 sites, assessed cost themes of care pathways,
and reviewed healthcare finance practices in several countries. He is a member
of the eHealth Impact team, and is now developing the eHI findings to apply

Deputy Director
Dr. Mogel serves as Deputy Director of the Telemedicine and Advanced
Technology Research Center (TATRC), located in Frederick, MD, and Marina del
Rey, CA. TATRC manages almost $400M of federal medical technology research
and development funding at a wide range of academic and industrial centers.
Dr. Mogel is also Assistant Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Engineering
at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA., as well as a
practicing radiologist. Dr. Mogel remains active in a wide variety of medical
research programs ranging from digital imaging to medical robotics and speaks

Geneticist and Software Architect
Paul-Christophe Varoutas is the coordinator of the Medical Infocentre
at the Institut Curie Cancer Care Centre since 2002. He is a molecular geneticist
and a software architect. From 1996 to 2001, he participated, as a PhD student
in the Institut Curie Research Division, in the discovery of SPO11 as the topoisomerase
that initiates meiotic recombination. Since 2001, he joined the Institut Curie
Hospital, where he coordinates the development of Prométhée, a biomedical and
health informatics framework based on a heterogeneous data source search meta-engine.
This framework relies on an algebraic model and addresses data integration

Oncologist
Alain Livartowski has been the coordinator of the Medical Information
Department at the Institut Curie Cancer Care Centre since 1993, and the director
of the Medical Information Service since 1999. His activities include developing
the clinical part of Curie's holistic health information system, and medical
and medico-economic evaluations of the hospital's activities. He is also active
as a pneumologist specializing in thoracic oncology. He has coordinated the
Medical Information Group of the French Cancer Centres' National Federation
since 2000, and coordinates the Paris Regional Oncology Electronic Patient
Record (DCC) development. Alain Livartowski has been clinical leader in developing
Elios, a fully integrated and comprehensive Electronic Patient Record, and

Tomas Mladek is a Chief Executive Officer in IZIP, Inc..
and deals with eHealth services and electronic health records. IZIP, Inc.
currently provides world-wide access to health records to one million people
and eight thousand health care professionals from the Czech Republic. Tomas
Mladek holds medical degree from Charles University in Prague and MBA from
Sheffield Hallam University. He has dedicated his career to interconnection
of medical, IT and commercial fields to facilitate health care services. Before

Reinhard HAMMERSCHMIDT is scientific consultant at empirica GmbH. His
main fields of activity are the impact of ICT-related change, interoperability
and co-operability issues in healthcare, and geospatial applications. Current
involvement is mainly in the European projects Good eHealth (www.good-ehealth.org),
and eHealth Impact. He holds a degree in Geography and Sociology from the University

Véronique Lessens is a manager at Deloitte, and has more than 10 years
of professional consulting experience in the Health Care sector. She has focused
on eHealth issues for the last five years. Since 2001, she has been manager
of the Health Information Network Europe (www.hineurope.com) project, initiated
for the European Commission and now hosted by Deloitte. HINE addresses the
pan-European market for ICT in healthcare. While the HINE service is targeted
primarily at ICT companies, it is also intended to inform and assist strategic
planning and investment decisions for Governments, Health Authorities, Payer
Organisations and Healthcare Providers. She is currently the project manager
for the Good eHealth project for the European Commission DG Information Society
and Media, which aims at identify good practices in eHealth and their associated
